About this cluster

When a story is described after the fact, the natural narrative shape (cause, then effect; question, then answer) often does not match the order things actually occurred. Timeline analysis treats sequence as a primary object of study: it pulls dates and timestamps from authoritative sources, lays them out in order, and lets the order speak for itself.
